Concept and requirements
The AT Connect Qlik for Piano Analytics allows you to export and display your Piano Analytics data in the Data Visualization Qlik tool. Thanks to this integration you can use all or part of Piano Analytics events and associated properties (standard and custom) to fuel your different dashboards.
This connector is based on the Data Sharing functionality included in the Data Flow product. Data Sharing is a feature enabled by the Snowflake technology, integrated into the Piano Analytics data processing and a true foundation of the Data Model.
The connector can be activated in a few clicks from the Snowflake data source natively available in the Qlik tool.
Prerequisites for using the AT Connect Qlik for Piano Analytics:
- Have a Qlik account
- Have an Piano Analytics account
- Have the Data Flow option + Data Sharing feature enabled
Additional information
You can also connect Piano Analytics to Qlik via CSV exports or via API calls configured in Data Query (part 5 of this document).
Activation of AT Connect Qlik for Piano Analytics
To activate AT Connect Qlik for Piano Analytics you will need the IDs used for the Data Sharing feature (Data Flow option required). Here is what is used to activate the connector (other fields are optional):
- Snowflake URL: URL of the Snowflake account hosting the Piano Analytics database (format https://xxx.xxx.snowflakecomputing.com)
- Port: the port related to the communication with Snowflake (by default 443).
- Username: login of the Snowflake account hosting the Piano Analytics DB.
- Password: password of the Snowflake account hosting the Piano Analytics DB.
When you have these items ready you can log in, as usual, to your Qlik account to initiate the implementation of this connector. You should start by creating a new data source using, for example, the "Connect to data" button from the Qlik home page.
You then need to choose the "Snowflake" data source in the pop-up window that just opened.
Then you will have to fill out the IDs for the Snowflake account hosting the Piano Analytics database (see the beginning of this chapter). You have to fill out 4 fields: Server URL, Server Port, Username and Password.
This will give you access to all the Piano Analytics events data and associated properties. Here is an overview of this data in the Qlik interface:
This connector is based on Data Flow Data Sharing functionality. Data Sharing is a feature enabled by Snowflake technology. In this context, each request made through the connector will consume Snowflake credits. This credit consumption is invoiced monthly.
It is important to watch the complexity of the requests you use. This connector allows you to query the entire database or to make a more precise query to only import the relevant data (and therefore consume less Snowflake credits). The filter bar allows you to make customized queries and less consume credits (filter on a specific event in the example below).
You can then generate the data and use it in your various Qlik interfaces.
Information - Snowflake in QlikView :
You can also use the Snowflake data source in the QlikView tool. Here is an article summarizing the steps to follow - https://community.snowflake.com/s/article/configuring-qlikview-to-use-snowflake
Creating dashboards and insights
With the AT Connect Qlik for Piano Analytics activated, you can now use Piano Analytics data, events and properties to create your various visualizations.
With AT Connect Qlik for Piano Analytics, you can use visualizations that integrate your Piano Analytics data into all your Qlik dashboards. You can also use this data in the Qlik Insights tool.
Ohter ways to connect Piano Analytics to Qlik
In addition to the Snwoflake connection, you can also export your Piano Analytics data to Qlik via two other methods detailed below.
- CSV Exports: You can manually add an Piano Analytics CSV export as a data source in Qlik. You can create a new manual entry and drag and drop your file.
You can then generate the data and use it in your various Qlik interfaces.
- API calls from Data Query: You can add a "REST" data source that will allow you to use Piano Analytics API calls generated from Data Query.
You must paste your Piano Analytics API URL in the "URL" field.
Then you must choose the "basic" authentication mode using your Piano Analytics access key and secret key as login and password (API key documentation).
You can then generate the data and use it in your various Qlik interfaces.
