Import data into Qlik View

To get started, simply download Qlik View onto your computer.

Once Qlik View has been installed, you may download the REST connector which will give you access to Piano Analytics’s API.

To do this, download the QvRestConnector_setup.exe file available on Qlik’s website: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/connectors/Content/QlikView.htm

If you are unable to download this plugin, please contact Piano Analytics’s support teams, who will provide it to you via WeTransfer.

Once downloaded, there’s nothing more to do – the connector will automatically link to your Qlik View application.

Select a data source

In Qlik View, start a new project, a new sheet and edit a new script.

A script editor window will open. Select the REST connector downloaded in Data > Data Base. A window will open to create the connection to Piano Analytics’s API.

Create a Rest setup

This important step enables you to create the setup of your REST connector and to import your Piano Analytics data into Qlik.

You will then be able to load a REST URL (in XML or JSON format) which you can obtain directly in the Data Query application within Piano Analytics's Analytics Suite.

Create a query in Data Query

Build your query in Data Query and select the API REST URL relating to your dataset.

To be able to import data into Qlik, it’s mandatory to have the Data Explorer option enabled, which will give me access to the Data Query application.

Go into Data Query. Create a new template, or use an existing template:

Import data from Piano Analytics’s API into Qlik

Select the URL created at the bottom of your dataset, in JSON, HTML or XML format.

Only paste the beginning of your URL, up until GET DATA: https://apirest.atinternet-solutions.com/data/v2/json/getData

Paste this Data Query URL into the URL section of the setup window.

Then, you must login in order to access your data. Enter your Piano Analytics login and password.

Now, specify the different parameters that make up this API URL by detailing out each “Query parameter” one by one.

The URL obtained in Data Query offers the following parameters:

https://apirest.atinternet-solutions.com/data/v2/json/getData?&columns={d_source,m_visits}&sort={-m_visits}&space={s:554331}&period={D:'2016-03-21'}&max-results=50&page-num=1

Carefully transfer these parameters over into the different fields below:

To save your data connection, be sure to verify that your connection has been successfully tested.

When you get back to the editor mode, resize the window to make appear the OK button which will allows you to validate and import the data source.

Once the connection is registered, you have to reload the data by clicking in the Menu File > Reload data.

Create your graphs

Once your data has been imported (visualised), you can easily build your own report (sheet) by creating a first graph. Create your data representations using the available palette of visualisations.

To get more Piano Analytics data, you can create an exhaustive template in Data Query, or connect several templates by reproducing the above steps as many times as needed.

Privacy

Activating this partnership activates the export of Piano Analytics data into Qlik. Only the data necessary for the proper functioning of the bridge are exported.
