Are you ready to migrate on Piano Analytics? Great news! Lots of things will be automatically migrated from the Analytics Suite 2 to Piano Analytics. You can find them in details here. But some actions need to be done. You'll find below all the actions you need to do in order to implement the new Piano Analytics version.
Are you managing the migration to Piano Analytics?
Certain changes are dependent on others (e.g. the use of custom metrics and segments in other places). We advise you to start with these elements.

Custom metrics & segments
We’re offering a brand new experience with incredible features and unrivalled performance. Your current resources (metrics, segments) won’t match these new features: this means that to benefit from all the power of this new tool, you’ll need to re-create both types of resources.

The migration to the Data Flow Piano Analytics consists of 3 main steps. There is no smooth transition between the Data Flow and the Data Flow Piano Analytics. You will therefore have to recreate your flows via the simplified configuration allowed by Piano Analytics. There will be an overlap period during which Data Flow and Data Flow Piano Analytics will work in parallel.
You can already begin to prepare yourself by following the detailed procedure below:
(1) We share a sample file based on the Piano Analytics processing so you can get a first preview of the New Data Model export. You also have at your disposal the mapping file allowing you to see the list of properties available in Data Flow Piano Analytics and those that are modified:
Mapping Data Flow / Data Flow Piano Analytics | Properties not available in Data Flow |
(2) When you’re ready, we start scheduling the Data Flow Piano Analytics production files. These Piano Analytics exports will therefore work in parallel with CDF exports.
(3) After this transition period, all Data Flow CDF exports will be shut down.
If this is not enough time, we can extend the overlap period between the Data Flow and the Data Flow Piano Analytics. This extension will result in additional costs and you will be invoiced to maintain the operation of both solutions in parallel.
Why migrate to Data Flow Piano Analytics?
The new Data Flow Piano Analytics is based on the high performance of the new Piano Analytics data model. This Data Flow is referred to as NDF (New Data Factory) Data Flow as opposed to CDF (Current Data Factory) Data Flow. The new Data Flow Piano Analytics is designed to help you, one step further, to implement your Big Data projects. You'll be able to recreate your exports more easily in the Data Flow Piano Analytics, get closer to real time streams with better performance and connect your Piano Analytics data to your 3rd-party tools using the Snowflake technology.
In the current Data Flow CDF, setting up an export means that you have to configure several universes per site in order to generate a set of CSV files. These files are then deposited on an FTP server or on an Amazon S3 bucket. You need to then gather these files and reconcile the data in order to reconstitute the single export, which is fairly complex.
CDF Data Flow Operation
The Data Flow Piano Analytics enables you to avoid these complex operations by allowing you to generate a single export of events and standard/custom properties at the sites of your choice.
Here are some additional reasons to migrate to Data Flow Piano Analytics:
- New data model: Overall unification and data quality
- Simplified configuration: no more need to select universes, all events and properties are available (standard and custom)
- New interface: UX reworked via an easy-to-use interface
- New storage: sFTP, S3 and soon Azure, GCP exports
- Direct access to data: Direct access to the events database via Snowflake technology
- Third party tools connection: New integrations thanks to Snowflake technology
- Close to real time: New export frequency - 15, 30, 60 minutes and direct access with Snowflake technology
- Historical data: Access to Piano Analytics data history
